Student slumps, dies after long illness ...no money for treatment
Tina has been ill, but unable to get treatment because she had no money. On Wednesday, she slumped and died as she was being rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
gathered that the student, identified as Tina in news reports, died while she was being rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
An official of the institute told News24 that Tina had been ill for a long time and unable to pay her hospital bills.
"Tina had been very ill and needed some financial assistance to get medical attention," the source said.
The official added management of the institute had promised to assist her, being a staff of its Abuja branch.
"The management had granted her permission to go for treatment and had also promised her some financial assistance before she died," the official added.
Unfortunately, the help did not come before she died.
Members of staff of the institute have arranged to take her corpse to a public mortuary because “LASUTH by its policy will not accept the corpse of a patient that did not die in the hospital.”
