AUN Academy II, others square up in Quarter Finals of Quiz

The two schools faced themselves in the first round of the contest on March 8 which the former opposed the topic:

“Merger of Christian religious studies and Islamic religious studies syllabuses, together by the Nigeria educational research and development council, NERDC, should not be,” while the latter proposed.

The same was the case in the Quarter final that held at the Christopher S. Abba Hall: AUN Academy II will be opposed the topic:

“The Computer-Based Testing System Adopted By JAMB Aand Other Examination Bodies, Rightly Timed or Out of Place?” as St. Peters proposed.

As the Proposing side, St. Peters focused on the ‘RIGHTLY TIMED’ side of the argument while AUN Academy II asserted with reasonable evidence that it is ‘OUT OF PLACE’. Miss Irima Abaribe and Sihiyona Dantata are first and second speakers for AUN Academy II, while Masters Emmanuel Tajepo and Daniel Ayuba present for St. Peters. St. Peters beat AUN Academy II in the first match up with 44 Points to 30 points.

The first debate of the day was between Ibn Masud (Opposition) and LCCN Academy (Proposition), arguing the topic: “NYSC Should Not be made a Compulsory Condition for Employment at all.” Master Moni Godwin Kake and Miss Lentapwa George Auta were the first and second speakers for LCCN; Ibn Masud is represented by an all-female speakers team, Yakub Fatimah and Fatimah Isah Sidi.

In the second debate of the day, another all-female team, Miss Oriolowo Adebola and Miss Sanni Aishat of Concordia College, on the Proposing side, went against the all-male team of GMMC, arguing the topic:

“The Internet has Brought More Peril Than Gains to The New Generation.”

Miss Goodness Tumba and Miss Nubwa Yakubu of Bright Future High School argued on the opposing side against Miss Sa’adatu Abari and Master Wachi Sajo of AUN Academy, who proposed the topic:

“Students Of Private Schools are More Disciplined Than Those of Public Schools in Adamawa State,” in the third debate of the day.

Points from the debate were added to scores of the schools in the Quiz and Spelling Bee segments. The schools with the highest cumulative points advance to the final which will hold at the Grand Finale, Award and Prize Giving Ceremony; the lowest-point scoring schools exit the contest in the quarter finals.
