The kidnappers attacked Akpata at his residence at Idah in Idah LGA of Kogi State, tied him and dumped him into the booth of their car before speeding off.

Fate must have smiled the way of the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Mathew AKpata, who regain his freedom in bizarre circumstances after he was abducted by gunmen at about 8pm on Monday

But The Rector soon regained freedom after the kidnappers’ getaway car crashed into a tree and they fled leaving him behind.
It was gathered that the kidnappers sustained serious injuries but managed to escape, leaving their victim in the booth of the car.
Residents of the area found the Rector in the abandoned vehicle and took him to the hospital.
