The Comptroller of Immigration, Kwara State Command, Mr. Peter Aburime, revealed the development during a courtesy visit to his office by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin(UNILORIN), Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali.

Aburime said the corp members would help ensure Ebola disease literacy and sensitization at Nigeria's borders, as part of efforts "to curtail the spread of the Ebola virus in the country."

"Over 1000 corps have been trained and are being deployed to man the nation's borders. This will help to tackle Illiteracy, which is  as a major problem at the borders.

"It is also one of the factors that has slowed down the ECOWAS regional integration plan," Aburime said as quoted in a statement by the Head of Corporate Services, UNILORIN, Mr. Kunle Akogun, on Tuesday.

In his comments, Ambali urged NIS to be more action in order to contain the Ebola scourge.

"The country needs the Immigration Service now more than ever before because of the outbreak of the Ebola virus.

"I urge the government to act fast on the preventive measure in the interest of the citizens," he said.

The Ebola virus disease, previously known as , derives its name from Ebola River in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where it was first discovered in 1976 and most of those who develop the full blown disease die.
