Free education has ended in Ekiti state as stakeholders on Tuesday agreed to bring back school fees at the Ekiti State Education Summit organized by Governor Ayodele Fayose.
With the development, tuition feed will now be paid by pupils in the state's public primary and secondary schools.
Speaking at the event which was held at the Abiodun Adetiloye Hall of the state's Trade Fair Complex, Ado Ekiti, Fayose said the summit was organized because of the successes recorded after a similar one he organized in 2003, during his first stint as governor of the state.
Stakeholders present included unionists, executives of education agencies, religious leaders and eminent educationists amongst others.
gathered that the summit was chaired by chaired by the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Ademola Ajakaye.
In a related development, the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Musa Surajudeen, criticized Fayose for not involving students of the state in the deliberations.
