Okowa calls for review of law establishing TETFund
Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, wants TETFund to cater for both public and private universities in Nigeria.
The governor made the call at the combined convocation ceremony of Western Delta University, Oghara, Ethiope-West local government area of the state during the weekend.
TETFund was established as an intervention agency under the TETFund ACT - Tertiary Education Trust Fund(Establishment, etc) Act, 2011 -- and charged with the responsibility for managing, disbursing and monitoring the education tax to public tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
“The law setting up TETFund should be looked into because, it is right for TETFUND to assist the private Universities. Whether private or public, they are training our children,” the governor said.
While congratulating the graduating students, Okowa said:“All over the world, the days are gone when you will graduate from the university and carry certificate, moving from one place to the other searching for job; as you go out engage in lawful business, pray and trust in God.”
