The Ogun State police boss, Abdulmajid Ali, gave the order at the state command headquarters, Eleweran, Abekuta, on Thursday while parading 23 suspects for various crimes, Daily Post reports.
‘Kill cultists, ritualists on sight’, police boss tells officers
Police officers in Ogun have been give orders to shoot cultists, ritualists or kidnappers on sight in order to lower the alarming rate of crime in the state.
Among the suspects paraded are suspected ritualists, cultists, murderers and kidnappers.
Ali said criminals will be dealt with severely henceforth.
“I want to inform you that the issue of cultism and ritualists will not be treated with levity any longer," he said.
"We have decided and I have given order to my boys to shoot on sight any cultist or ritualist seen perpetrating any of these activities.
“Either armed personally or they are found in group with arms, my men will bring them down."
The Commissioner noted that cultists will be given the same treatment as armed robbers.
"We have decided that a cult member would be treated as an armed robber or a murderer.”
The suspected ritualists, Fatunbi Rahaman and Hassan Kunle, were caught with a human skull and charms in their possession.
