Embattled OAU lecturer reportedly goes into hiding, deletes Facebook account
Prof Akindele has reportedly run into hiding after the OAU Vice Chancellor released a personal statement on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
Prof Richard Akindele, a lecturer in the Department of Management and Accounting was allegedly heard in an audio recording demanding a sex romp from the student who scored 33 in his course to increase her grade.
The lecturer has however been at the middle of the storm since the audio conversation between him and the student went viral on Monday, April 9, 2018.
Efforts to reach the lecturer who is also a Pastor at the Christ Apostolic Church proved abortive as the embattled lecturer refused to respond to all calls. Prof Akindele has also deleted his Facebook account where some of his pictures were obtained and published by the media to report his alleged scandal.
However, since the sex-for-mark saga hit news headlines, the lecturer and the yet-to-be-identified student have not responded to the saga as both have been unavailable since their leaked telephone conversation became a public knowledge.
OAU VC personally reacts to the scandal
Meanwhile, in a bid to address the scandal, the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof Eyitope Ogunmodede has personally reacted to the allegations against the lecturer on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
The VC said OAU will never condone any act of sexual harassment of students by any staff or student saying the university considers sexual harassment as a serious offence contrary to its Code of Conduct for the University Community and against the Anti-sexual Harassment Policy of the University.
