Nationwide biometric exercise begins in October
The biometric exercise for NYSC members is set to commence nationwide in October after successes recorded in Abuja and Lagos.
He made the disclosure on Tuesday, September 27, in Katsina while speaking with the participants of the training programme organised for NYSC staff in the seven states of the North-West geo-political zone, in connection with the exercise.
Kazuaure also revealed that the necessary logistics needed for the project is ready.
Since the introduction of the project, only corps members in Abuja and Lagos states have been affected.
According to him, the positive results gotten from the pilot scheme in Abuja and Lagos, have now made the extension of the process to other states in the country necessary.
Represented by the Director of Planning and Statistics, Chief Anthony Ani, Kazuaure said, “The introduction of biometric verification of Corps members which took off in Lagos and FCT as pilot has greatly improved the efficiency of Corps members hence the need to extend the process to other states of the federation.
“In 2014, the scheme made the giant leap from the manual system of mobilisation, deployment, registration and relocation of corps member to the current ICT-based system.
“The idea is to ensure efficiency and effective management of our operations in line with current technological trends.
“Since its commencement, the initiative has not only proved its efficacy but it has also helped in stemming the tide of unwholesome practices by some stakeholders.”
