NYSC extend the service year of 15 corps members in Nasarawa
The 15 corps members were punished for travelling out of Nasarawa State without taking permission from NYSC.
The corps members who served in the 2017 Batch B, Stream 1 was extended as their punishment for various misconducts.
During a low-key Passing out Parade (POP) for the corps members in Lafia on Thursday, Mrs Zainab Isah, NYSC Coordinator in the state announced the punishment for the corps members.
Isah said, “some corps members erred during the service year. We have 15 corps members that have disciplinary cases.
“Some of them missed the monthly allowances because they embarked on unauthorised journeys and others left their places of primary assignment without permission.
“The allowances they missed is what will be used to pay them as they serve their punishment and the period of the extension depends on the gravity of the misconduct,’’
According to her, the extension of the service year of the erring corps members was based on the recommendation of the state NYSC Disciplinary Committee.
The coordinator, therefore, advised the 1904 corps members, who have successfully completed their service year to take advantage of the skills they acquired during their service year so as to be self-employed.
