Corpers provide free eye test for students
The corpers are offering free eye test for secondary school pupils.
The project which was tagged “Project Visio+,” and headed by Adejobi Israel is aimed at combating the issue of learning difficulties among high school pupils caused by vision impairment. A total of 64 students benefited from this exercise.
The practitioner who conducted the eye test on the pupils, Dr. Lilian Okoronkwo, disclosed that after this exercise, nine students needed eyeglasses and eye treatment, while 29 students only needed glasses. There were also 16 students who she had to refer to other practitioners.
She added, “One pupil was reassured about her reflex tearing condition and another was comfortable with her pair of eyeglasses at present.
“Above all, there was a case of an 11- year-old male pupil who was diagnosed of cataract in both eyes, and needing urgent surgical procedures, otherwise, stands the risk of blindness in both eyes.”
Udochukwu Ugoji, a beneficiary of the exercise, said, “I love the uncles and aunties that brought this to us; I also appreciate them for the eyeglasses, I am okay with it and promise to use it well.”
Another student, Quadri Akande, also expressed his gratitude to the corps members, “I appreciate the group so much, and I want to say the eyeglass now aids my vision properly.”
