Agency explains why full ceremonial POP is held for 2017 Batch A
The 2017 Batch A stream 1 completes their youth service on Thursday, April 12, 2018 and the NYSC has decided to give them a full POP ceremony.
The agency said the full ceremony is organised because the security of the country has greatly improved.
Speaking to newsmen in Niger state, the state NYSC Coordinator in the state Theresa Ibukun Arokoyo said the full ceremonial passing out parade was suspended across the country because NYSC could not assure the security of the corps members.
”Due to security issues, we had to suspend the passing out parade. While we have strict security during orientation, security could not be guaranteed during the passing out ceremonies, that is why it was suspended.
“However, our country is getting better, security has improved, that is why the NYSC decided to have ceremonial passing out parade for the 2017 Batch ‘A’ Stream One Corps Members. ”
NYSC had low key POP ceremony two year ago
Recall that in October 2016 and December 2017, the NYSC in a bid to ensure the safety of the outgoing corps members announced a low key passing out ceremony nationwide.
