2 corps members receive Sultan award in Sokoto
Each of the the best behaved male and female corps members in Sokoto state receive a set of Plasma TV with N100,000 cash prize.
Philip Enaberue, the Sokoto State Coordinator of the NYSC made this known on Friday, July 13, 2018.
Enaberue said the corps members served with the 2017 Batch A, Stream II in Tangaza and Gada Local Government Areas.
He explained that the award was designed to encourage corps members to stay and serve diligently in the rural areas.
Rewarding the awardees for their conduct during their service year in the state, the Sultan’s Personal Secretary, Hali Machiddo, presented sets of Plasma Televisions with N100,000 prizes to each awardee.
Also, the state's NYSC Coordinator states that the Sultan's award for the “Best Behaved Male and Female Corps Members’’ was geared at encouraging corps members not to over-concentrate in the urban areas, adding that services of corps members are more needed by the rural dwellers.
“We are hopeful that some corps members from the state will get Presidential awards as the committee begins to screen nominations from states,” the coordinator said.
However, Enaberue announced that the NYSC has partnered with some agencies to train corps members on business skills for them to be productive during and after their service year.
