OAU students nab 2 cultists, 1 month after colleague was stabbed to death

Students of the Obafemi Awolowo University have caught two suspected cultists who attacked their colleagues at the institutiton's main gate.

Two suspected cultists have been 'arrested by students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) just about a month after a female medical student was stabbed to death.

According to an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity on safety grounds, the alleged cultists and other members of their cult group attacked some students, Sammy, Engels and Juwon, at the university gate on Sunday night.

"These guys and other members of their cult group attacked our student security officer (Sammy) at the school gate yesterday night."

"During the attack Sammy was able to make contacts with his guys here in school, which led a mob to the school gate.

"Fortunately they still met them [the cultists and Sammy's crew] fightin and were able to apprehend two of them."

The 'cultists' were overpowered, tied up and severely beaten by irate students.

The reason for the attack remains a mystery, esepcially as the attackers are reportedly not OAU students.

"He was attacked for reasons I don't know," the source said. "The cult guys are not OAU  students. They are outsiders.."

Another source who spoke to Student Pulse confirmed that the suspected cultists are not students.

The source however added that Sammy, who was once a honorary student security leader, might have been targeted for his involvement in anti-crime activities in the institution.

Student Pulse also learnt that Sammy and the other two who were attacked were suspended by the OAU management prior to the attack, with the exception of  Juwon was recently reinstated.

It will be recalled that in October, a 500 level medical student of the institution, identified as Elizabeth, was brutally murdered for allegedly refusing love advances from a cultist.
