The guys behind NODA

If you thought BudgIT was the most awesome thing that happened to data, think again.

Three final year students of the Federal University of Technology Akure have created a Nigeria Open Data Access (NODA) portal, with the support of Connected Developmemt, Open Data For Development and School of Data.

According to Techpoint, The NODA project was unveiled on Saturday at an event in Akure which was be graced by data experts including Seun Inigbinde of BudgIT,  Nkechi Nkwuone from the School of Data and Oludotun Babayemi from Connected Development.

The Nigeria Open Data Access is a platform for making data in Nigeria available for Nigerians and the World. The best part is its going to be free of charge, without any form of restrictions. This data will be made available in their public domain and can be downloaded in document formats Excel, XML and PDF formats.

The portal has very ambitious plans. There will be data on all schools, all hospitals, all water points, all road data, rivers, and settlements.

Also included on the platform are data from last year’s budget concerning Education, Health,  Transportation,  Government expenditure and Telecoms –  MTN, Airtel and Globalcomm, excluding Etisalat.
