15 year old Emmanuel Olamide Makinde has emerged the winner at the National ICT Olympiad (Lagos state finals),defeating nine other shortlisted finalists.

In its first edition, the competition which is designed to test secondary school students' knowledge of information and communication technology was restricted to Lagos state.

Subsequent editions,the organisers say will feature students from the 36 states in Nigeria, as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
Makinde, a student from Sacred Heart College, Lagos polled a total of 94 points out of 100, while his closest opponent 16 year old Daniel Tomisin Oluwalana from Chrisland Schools VGC, Lagos scored 91 points.
The third position went to 17 year old Lawrence Okegbemi, a student from Igboowu Senior School, Mushin Lagos,who scored 88 points.
An official of the Olympiad, Mr Lucky Odion, said the finalists where chosen from a total of 5,186 students from 1,765 schools in Lagos state who originally participated in the competition.
Makinde won a cash prize of N100,000 and a laptop. He will also benefit from a scholarship worth N100,000 to be administered by NIIT Lagos. His school, Sacred Heart College. Apapa will also get a school management software valued at N250,000 courtesy of Flexisaf.
The 2nd prize is a laptop, N50,000 cash prize, and his school Chrisland College VGC, also gets a school management software.
The 3rd prize is a cash prize of N25,000.
