Nigeria has a total of 138 universities. Of these, 59 are privately-owned, 40 are owned by the Federal government while 39 are state-government owned. Here are their names, locations, website, Vice Chancellors and dates of establishment.

Many students cannot state the age of the university they attend, neither can they say anything about other institutions.
In order to shore up Nigerians’ knowledge about Nigerian university, the ‘Know Your University’ series collates information about universities’ dates of establishment, websites, location and names of the Vice Chancellors overseeing their affairs, based on the official listing on the website of the National Universities Commission (NUC).
