3,000 of 18,000 candidates to be admitted into varsity
Authorities of KASU have revealed that only 3,000 of the 18,000 fresh candidates will be admitted.
The Head of Business Administration fro the varsity, Dr Helen Andow, made the revelation on Wednesday, September 28, at a four-day training exercise for 36 journalists and students on entrepreneurial journalism, organised by Voice of America (VOA) in Kaduna.
Andow revealed that the figure stated above represents only those who scored 180 points and above in the UTME and selected KASU as their first choice.
She added that the number of candidates who actually applied for admission into the university was much more, explaining that only those who met the 2016 Joint Admission’s Matriculation Board (JAMB) cut-off point and criteria received invites for the screening.
Andom said that the university will be admitting only 3,000 out of the 18,000 due to the university's carrying capacity.
“There is however opportunity in the university’s remedial studies programme as well Entrepreneurship Research and Development Centre for those who would not be admitted, “she said.
