NSUK Muslim students beef up security to prevent attack
Muslim students at the Nasarawa State Universityhave organized a security outfit to prevent terror attack on their mosque and worshippers as the Boko Haram sect remains a threat.
The students are concerned about the safety of worshippers in the campus following the November 28 bomb attack that killed several worshipers at a Kano mosque.
Working in partnership with the university security outfit, MSSN officials searched all worshippers at the mosque.
According to the spokesman of MSSN NSUK chapter, Suleiman Abubakar who was quoted in a , the new measures became necessary because worshippers are afraid.
“The recent bomb blast which claimed the lives of many people in Kano has instilled fears into the minds of people even in their places of worship and this is an indication that we need to be security wise," Abubakar said.
"For this reason, we consider it appropriate to beef up security at this time.”
A member of the NSUK MSSN security team, Sa’ad Yusuf Abubakar, said civilians ought to be involved in ensuring security of lives and properties.
Most importantly, our efforts as civilians in the fight against insurgency stands to complement the efforts of security agencies. This effort shall be sustained and Nigeria will win this fight by the grace of God," he said.
Scores of worshipers were killed with over a hundred others injured in the Kano mosque attack which attracted the condemnation of the Catholic Pope.
