Luke-Adetule Gbenga Aderemi is a final year student of Ladoke Akintola University of technology, Ogbomosho, Oyo. He is from Ekiti state. The eldest of three kids, Aderemi owns the fashion brand NVO (NAIJAS VERY OWN).

Gbenga’s romance with fashion started from childhood, he says.

“I have been a creative individual from a very tender age. I had flair for drawing and creative arts. I have learned to harness that talent and incorporate it into the fashion world, and it's been fun.”

He spoke to Student Pulse about his NVO brand.

NVO started in March 2013 and offers “premium quality and bespoke outfits to suit your style and make you standout of the norm.

We redefine awesomeness as we keep it 101%, placing customer satisfaction as our topmost priority,” he says.

For him, NSFDW represents an opportunity “to explore more territory and let people see what I have to offer [and] even become an international brand someday.”

At the fashion showcase, Gbenga intends to wow fashion enthusiast with designs that show “uniqueness and creativity.”

Finance, he says, is his greatest challenge.

“In Nigeria there are few people that would sponsor your dream; banks turn down proposals for loan without even looking through.

“There should be a loan scheme to assist emerging designers. This would go a long way in helping them achieve their goals.”

NSFDW organisers say the yearly showcase “aims to discover new talent and give opportunities to those that would not normally be able to afford to participate at the major Nigerian Fashion Weeks.”

The 2014 edition will hold at the University of Lagos from Thursday 5th to Friday 6th of June.
