An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered that two students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, and a mobile phone dealer accused of cultism be remanded in prison.

The suspects, 22-year-old Efeotor Oghenemarhe, 23-year-old Felix Olukanmi, and a 27-year-old cell-phone dealer, Adebusuyi Kolawole, were accused of being members of the Klansman Secret Cult.

According to the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Olasunkanmi Bankole, the trio were arrested at Odo-Ado on the 23rd of October.

He said they had axes, cutlasses and secret cult insignia in their possession at the time of their arrest.

Bankole told the court that the offences contravened Sections 4(1) and 10(a) of the Secret Cult (Abolition and Prohibition) Law Cap 52, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

Opposing the accused's application bail, the Prosecutor said their release may jeopardise police investigations.

He prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable him prepare his case.

After the accused pleaded not guilty, Chief Magistrate Idowu Ayenimo adjourned the case to the 5th of November.

The remanded them at the Federal Prisons Ado-Ekiti.

Student Pulse gathered that another group of students from the same polytechnic were arraigned for cultism.
