The institution took the decision to suspend resumption at its last Senate meeting, on Thursday 4th of September, Daily Trust reports.

It also prepared a new academic calendar for the 2014/2015 session.

In the original calendar, Monday 15th of September was fixed for registration of newly admitted and returning students and the full commencement of academic activities.

NSUK has been on long vacation break since May 2014 and students are already worried about the unusually long break, especially considering the fact that the institutions witnessed several disruptions in the last session.

An 8-month closure after students' protest over water scarcity was followed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)'s 6-month strike.

Students had been hopeful of a quick start to the new session and will now be disappointed with the management's decision.
