Our graduates are employers, not job-seekers, KWASU VC boasts

Students of the Kwara State University have been banned from mixng with the opposite sex and wearing palm sandals on weekdays, as published in its new code of conduct and dressing.

Graduates of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, would be employers, rather than job seekers, because they have been trained to be entrepreneurs.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, said this while briefing newsmen on the third convocation ceremony of the university slated for Saturday June 6th.

Na’Allah said all 762 graduates who will emerge at the convocation have been trained to become entrepreneurs and employers of labour as they exit the institution.

“We have produced students who would not be looking for employment but would employ other people,” he said.

"They would not be parasites in the society. We expect them to be solution for Nigerians.

He urged parents to support their wards to become entrepreneurs instead of searching for ready-made jobs.

"They [parents] should encourage them [students] to create jobs. They should collaborate with this university," the Vice-Chancellor said.

“They (students) don’t need big money to become entrepreneurs.

"What you need is determination, vision and preparation which we have given them, they should be honest and gradually they would be Dangotes.”

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, is billed to deliver the 3 Convocation Lecture of the university.
