Nigeria needs to improve the quality of education available to students to restore confidence in the sector and produce quality graduates.
'We Need Quality Education In Nigeria' — FUNAI VC
The VC of FUNAI has called on efforts to restore faith in the Nigerian education system
This much was said by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe.
“We need quality education in this country. Universities are universal properties; we want our students to be at par with other institutions," the VC said.
"We need to restore the confidence of university education."
He revealed that his institution's main aim to produce graduates that will find relevance in the labour market.
"We want everybody to be employable that is our target as a university,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor revealed that the institution is in partnership with five foreign universities to add value to the academic activities it offers.
FUNAI is one of the nine new Federal Universities established by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR in 2011 to expand access to quality education to all parts of Nigeria.
It currently has 188 full-time academic staff and 802 students, 308 admitted in the in 2012/13 academic session and 494 students in 2013/14 academic session.
