Thirty prisoner 'students' have successfully completed a vocational training programme organised for them by the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Prison Service on Thursday.

NAN reports that  all the graduated 'students' are inmates at the Agodi Prison in Ibadan.

According to the spokesman of the command, Mr. Olanrewaju Anjorin, the inmates were trained in such vocations as computer engineering and cell phones repair.

He added that the prisoners are usually given working tools by the command to enable them become self-reliant on completion of their prison terms.

Anjorin said the prisons are centres of  rehabilitating, reforming and reintegrating inmates, not just for punishment.

He also solicited the support of the state and local government for the training scheme.
