Union turns down meeting with FG

The Union reportedly shunned the meeting because the government refused to reply the union's proposal.

Explaining the reason for ignoring the meeting, the president of the union, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi said union decide to boycott the meeting because the government refused to reply the union's proposal.

The president therefore said the union will not attend any meeting with Federal Government until the until the union gets a reply.

According to Vanguard, the meeting was called by Minister of Labour, Senator Chris Ngige and the Ministers of Education and Finance, Mallam Adamu Adamu and Mrs. Kemi Adeosun respectively,  Chairman, National Income Salaries and Wages Commission, Executive Secretary National Universities Commission and the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba were all expected to be at the meeting.

ASUU had recently declared an indefinite nationwide strike to press home its demands on the implementation agreement the federal Government signed with the union in 2009.
