Gov Udom vows to deal with corrupt school administrators
Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has said the government will deal with administrators who mismanage funds allocated to their schools.
Speaking on a radio programme in Uyo the state capital, Udom said he would not hesitate to dismiss heads of primary and secondary schools found guilty of corruption.
“This government will not tolerate any further mismanagement of subvention given to schools and any school head found guilty of this will not be spared," he said.
“This administration is committed to zero tolerance to corruption and this must be standing practice for all public officers of the state.’’
Udom’s warning comes on the heels of allegations that principal officers of the state’s schools embezzle the subventions which are paid monthly to fund the state's free education policy.
Reports say the immediate past governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio, stopped the allocation because of the malpractices.
