A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) has blamed the mass failure of candidates in the 2014 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on unstable power supply.
'PHCN' Responsible For WAEC Mass Failure
Inadequate power supply is one of the main reasons why students fail
Chief Yomi Ogunnusi, who represents Ifako-Ijiaye constituency in Lagos, said constant power outage in the nation is a major reason why many students perform poorly in examinations.
Ogunnusi made the statement while awarding scholarships to 100 students in his constituency.
Making a connection between students performance and availability of power supply, the lawmaker said students find it difficult as they should in such a situation.
Student Pulse reported last week that about 70 percent of the candidates that sat for the 2014 May/June West African Examinations Council (WAEC) failed to obtain five 5 credits including the required Mathematics and English Language.
