Oludamilola Oluwadara Adekeye, a 17-year-old Nigerian girl became endeared to many Nigerians recently when the news of her rare academic success broke.

The young teenager got admission offers from 19 top universities in the world out of 20 institutions she applied to. This is a rare feat and Nigerians could not but celebrate the brilliant teenager.

However, Oluwadamilola is not the first teenager to wow Nigerians with such an amazing academic achievement. In recent time, three other brilliant Nigerian-born teenagers achieved similar feat as eight of the world's top universities offered them admission in 2017.

These young academic champions deserve some accolades and as usual, Nigerians don't get tired of celebrating people like them.

1. Jude Okonkwo

In April 2017, Jude Okonkwo, a 17-year-old student of Chaminade High School received acceptance letters from Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University and Yale University.

2.  Ifeoma White Thorpe


This Nigerian-American high school student Ifeoma White Thorpe also hit news headlines in 2017 when top eight universities in the world offered her admission letters.

17-year-old Ifeoma was accepted at America’s elite Ivy League universities, including Harvard, Yale, Columbia, UPenn, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, and Princeton.

3. Nina Uzoigwe

Nina was offered admission by top 8 universities in the world in 2017


The last US-based Nigerian student to be accepted by the Ivy League schools in 2017 was Nina Uzoigwe. Nina was offered admission at Harvard, Dartmouth, Cornell, UPenn, Columbia, Princeton and Yale.
