In a statement issued by Dogara's spokesman, Turaki Hassan, he said that the only task before Christian leaders was to build unity of purpose in accordance with teachings of Jesus Christ.

He said:  “The body of Christ is not divided, and leadership in the kingdom is not about what you desire to do to God.  Election into leadership of the church should never be a do-or-die affair at all. Let it be that we are yielding our output for God.”

He urged that all Christians should emerge stronger from the election and be united more than ever before.

Dogara said this during a ceremony to declare open the Second Christian Pilgrim Stakeholders Summit organised by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission in Abuja, yesterday, February 23.
