Rom 13:5(New Living Translation) says: So you MUST submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience. In this verse, it uses the word “must” again to show that submission to political authority is no to be debated. It also says that you must submit to keep a clear conscience- a conscience without fault in God’s sight.
Submission to political authority (Part 3)
Rom 13:1(New Living Translation) says: Everyone MUST submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.
Rom 13:6(New Living Translation): Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do.
Rom 13:7(New Living Translation): Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.
If you imbibe this, it will give you an attitude of success. Successful people look for ways to help the government make things better. No truly successful person, dishonours, disrespects or complains about those in political authority.
What do we do then? 1 Tim 2:1-4(NEW LIVING TRANSLATION): I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
Do you want to leave a peaceful life where there is Godliness in government, peace and plenty in the nation and your state? Pray for our leaders.
