An Islamic cleric has reportedly died from drowning in Sokoto.

A chief Imam of a village in Sokoto was reported to have drowned in the village river
The deaceased, Muhammadu Nadande, a chief Imam of Kutufare village in Gudu local government area, was reported to have drowned in the village river on September 4, 2014.
Meanwhile, six members of the same family have died as a result of suspected food poisoning in Awilkiti village in the same local government where the cleric died.
All the deceased persons had since been buried according to Islamic rites.
A delegation of the state government led by Lands and Housing Commissioner, Nasiru Dantsoho, condoled the bereaved family.
Dantsoho and Bachaka had condoled with the family of the late cleric, describing his demise as a great loss to his family and the entire state.
