Italy Beefs Up Security Over ISIS Threat To Pope Francis

But the Vatican is saying there is no cause for alarm

In the wake of reports that Islamic State militants are threatening Pope Francis because he called for the world to defeat the group, Italy has increased its security to tackle that challenge.

In a report published by Il Tempo an Italian newspaper last week, it said Pope Francis of the Islamic State for against Islam — a charge that carries severe punishment and even death.

The newspaper reported that according to Italy’s intelligence agencies, the country has heightened the alert.

But the Vatican is saying there is no cause for alarm.Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardo told Catholic News Agency.
