Lagos Begins Probe On Church As Death Toll Rises To 80
The death toll had risen to 80 including 3 non-African as at Wednesday, September 18 in a report given by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)
According to The Nation, the death toll had risen to 80 including 3 non-African as at Wednesday, September 18 in a report given by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
It was gathered that government agencies had distanced themselves from Zuma’s claims, stating that the figures released by the agencies were true representation of operational findings.
The Nation reports that the church had made rounds on Wednesday, going to various hospitals where survivors were admitted, in search of South Africans rather than set the record straight on the president’s claims.
‘During visit to some of the hospitals, it was observed that church members were offsetting the bills of their patients, while South African nationals were being discharged and taken away by the church.
It was gathered that the church’s move was geared towards preparing the South Africans for their return home as well as finds ways to respond to Zuma’s claim,’ the newspaper revealed.
