In the spirit of Ramadan, Pulse Nigeria has listed the top 10 most stunning mosques every Muslim should visit at least once in their lifetime.

1. Great Mosque of Djenné in Mali.

The mosque which dates back to 1907 is the largest mud building in the world. It is located in the city of Djenne, Mali, on the flood plain of the Bani River.

2. Masjid al-Nabawi mosque in Medina.

The Masjid al-Nabwi, or the Prophet’s mosque, is located nearby in Medina and was originally built by Prophet Muhammad [SAW].

3. Masjid al-Haram mosque in Mecca

The Masjid al-Haram houses the Ka’bah, which is the holiest site in Islam. It is also the location of the hajj and umrah pilgrimages.

4. Ubudiah Mosque in Kuala Kangsar, Malaysia.

The Ubudiah mosque was opened in 1917 following the decree by Sultan Idris Murshidul Adzam Shah, the 28th Sultan of Sultan of Perak

5. Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey.

This mosque is situated on one of Istanbul's seven hills and it was built between th 1550 and 1557.

6. Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque in Abu Dhabi

The Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque in Abu Dhabi was constructed from 1996 to 2007 and it is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates.

7. Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat, Oman.

The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat in Oman which can accommodate 20,000 worshippers was completed in 2001. It's Persian carpet took 600 women four years to weave.

8. Masjid Dimaukom in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Philippines.

The mosque was painted pink to symbolise peace and love and was built by Christian workmen to symbolise unity and inter-faith brotherhood.

9. Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan.

Wazir Khan Mosque is located in the old city of Lahore and was built in the 17th century during the reign of Mughal emperor Shahjehan. The mosque is named after Shahjehan’s trusted aide, Hakim Shaikh Ilm-ud-din Ansari, who was also known as Wazir Khan.

10. Larabanga Mosque in the village of Larabanga, Ghana.

The mosque was built in the 17th century, similar to the Sudani style of architecture in the great mosque in Mali. It is one of the oldest mosque in Ghana
