The Career Leader [Book review]

When you hear the word career, what comes to your mind? Or when you hear the commonly used word ! Let’s make it more interesting, you would also have heard of the word ‘work’.I personally have heard some people say words such as ‘am off to work! Where does she work? Workers needed! Work experience, it goes on and on.

Abraham Owoseni, the author of the book ‘The Career Leader’ practically redefines the meaning of career. He took his time to explain what these words meant and after he finished turning more light on them for me, I got deeper understanding and clarity on CAREER, WORK and JOB.

Abraham, explains CAREER as 'A long-term, lifelong work' he also shared more light by putting it this way for better clarification that “A career is not a job in the context we understand it to be. A career is not for a sole aim of earning a living, in actual fact, a career is not the invention of the government or the economy, neither is it an idea of our parents/ guardians.

He shows how people can build a foundation for a true and a purposeful career. In another simple sentence he says “Everyone has been wired for work at creation. A career is therefore defined as one’s lifework. It is a calling!” Now that you have the knowledge of what a CAREER should be if you are in a particular CAREER and you don’t see it as a long term thing, I am sorry to say “You are on a WRONG long thing”

Where do you stand? Let this book reorient and reposition you, don’t live life based on what you want to eat, drink, wear and where you want to stay.
