The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bajrang Dal, Dharma Jagran Samanvay Vibhag on Monday, December 8 converted over 200 poor Muslims to Hinduism.
RSS lure 200 poor Muslims to Hinduism
Over 200 Muslims were on Monday, December 8 converted to Hinduism. The RSS has been accused of luring the poor Muslims with food and shelter.
The poor Muslims were lured by the RSS who gave them food and shelter.
"The RSS people assured us that they will provide us better place to live, better food and schooling for my grandsons. I don't mind change of religion, as religion doesn't give us food to eat," one of the converts, Sufia Begum told The Times of India.
The conversion was held at a ceremony where the former Muslims washed the feet of Hindu idols; the new converts would be given new names along with voters IDs.
The RSS regional head, Rajeshwar Singh, told The Times of India that the organisation is also working towards converting 5,000 more Muslims and Christians in to the Hindu fold by Christmas.
A lot of protest have however greeted the conversion as the Muslim community has accused the RSS of luring the converted Muslims.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is a right-wing charitable, educational, volunteer, Hindu nationalist, non-governmental organization. It is the world's largest voluntary non-governmental organization. RSS states that its ideology is based on the principle of selfless service to India.
Though religion in India is characterised by a diversity of religious beliefs and practices, majority of the nation’s populace practice Hinduism as a religion. India is the birthplace of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism.
