Christians should participate more in 2015 elections

Prophet Abidoye said the only way Christians could contribute immensely to the development of the country and decide who would rule them is by active participation in politics

Spiritual leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Samuel Abidoye has urged Christians to actively participate in the forthcoming general elections.

Prophet Abidoye made the statement on Sunday at the ordination of some members of the church’s Ilorin District Headquarters.

The spiritual leader said the only way Christians could contribute immensely to the development of the country and decide who would rule them is by active participation in politics.

The cleric said one of the civic responsibilities of a good Christian was to pray for the peace and improvement of the country.

“I will however advise you not to join anybody to plot against the country. You should do everything possible to work for the unity of the nation,’’ he said.

Abidoye also emphasized on the need for the country’s leaders to make welfare of the people their priority and to build an egalitarian society.

“We should assist the less privileged to give them hope,’’ he said.
