The pontiff from Argentina was greeted cheerfully by the crowd as he blew out the candle lights on his birthday cake which was presented to him.
To make the day more memorable and special, a mass tango by thousands of couples was performed at Saint Peter's Square after a 'Happy Birthday' song was sung for the popular pope.
According to reports, the pope Francis admitted to being a fan of the erotic dance which originated from his birthplace.
