'Muslims with more than one wife are doing so ignorantly', Dr. Muazu Aliyu says

According to Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, Muslim men should stop marry many wives and also be in the kitchen.

Dr Aliyu says men should no longer marry more than one wife

Now, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu thinks they need to stop because "the era of men taking many wives has gone," Vanguard reports.

Speaking at the annual lecture series organised by Newgate College of Technology in Minna, the former governor of Niger State, gave reasons why men should no longer marry more than one wife.

“Those that have married more than one wife and claimed that the scriptures allow it are doing so ignorantly and out of the tenets of Islam. What the law says is that if you can be faithful and fair to two wives, you are allowed to take more than one wife. But I don’t see how a man can be faithful and fair to more than one wife at a time," he revealed.

Dr. Aliyu also responded to President Muhammadu Buhari's statement about where women belong.

In Germany, Buhari declared that women belong in the kitchen and the inner room, the former governor disagrees with this statement.

According to him, men also belong in the kitchen because the Quran tells men to provide for their families.

However, he agreed that women do belong in the 'other room.'

“Looking at the issue critically, and in Islamic terms, it is actually the man that should be in the kitchen as provided for in the Holy Quran.

The woman should only be in the ‘inner room,’ while the men should provide all the needs of the woman, including making purchases from the market for the use of the family.

Islam does not permit women to go out indiscriminately, as they are supposed to be in the house taking care of the children," he added.

Dr. Aliyu also urged both husbands and wives to support their families and societies by working together, especially during this recession period.
