‘Praise God in good and bad times,’ — Both say
Pastors Adeboye and Oyedepo both agree on the need for Nigerians to praise God at all times.
The two men encouraged Christians to praise God in the face of challenges, The News Guru reports.
During his sermon titled: ‘’Understanding the wonder of praise”, Oyedepo, spoke on praise and what it can do for believers.
According to him, praise has the power to invite God’s presence, glory, His favour, healing, access to revelation, and breakthroughs.
He added that it can also activate God’s wonder and a fresh anointing. Oyedepo urged the gathering to avoid complaining when faced with challenges, rather they should learn to praise God at all times.
“Even if you have lost something precious, there is need to praise God because you didn’t lose everything,” he advised.
His message was echoed by the Adeboye, who stated there is no excuse not to praise God as it guarantees victory, success, dominion and abundant supply from heaven.
“The only thing you need to do is to praise the One, Who is destiny maker. Moses was a song writer and a singer. David was an instrumentalist, singer and song writer, Hannah was also a song writer,” he preached.
Focusing on the theme of the recently concluded 65th convention, “Hallelujah”, the RCCG G.O described life as a battle field.
Referring to challenges as victories and losses, he encouraged the congregation to never forget to praise God for everything that He has done.
In his words, ‘’In any congregation, there are three categories of people, those who have just lost a battle, those who are in the midst of a terrific battle and those who have just won a battle and yet the Bible says everybody should praise Him.
“For all three groups, there is need to praise God continuously — the first set for hope and restoration; the second for God to fight their battles; and the third, who should not forget God and go partying because life is full of unending round of battles.”
These sermons were shared during the last day of the 65th convention, the thanksgiving service.
It was attended by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, Samuel Ortom of Benue, former governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko and other dignitaries.
Highlights of the convention include:
1. The revelation of a short wooden staff — Adeboye said that this staff was blessed and handed over to him by the founder of the church, the late Rev Joseph Akindayomi. He used it for three special prayers and to bless handkerchiefs.
2. He noted that praising God guarantees victory, success, dominion and abundant supply from heaven.
3. Numerous testimonies and prophecies.
4. 74 new babies, 43 boys and 31 girls.
Meanwhile, Pastor Adeboye has announced “Dominion” as the theme for next year’s convention.
