"Buhari will move Nigeria Nigeria forward" - Anglican Bishop says

Bishop Ademowo also praised President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat for the unity of the country

Diocesan Bishop of Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Lagos State, Adebola Ademowo recently described President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, as a leader who's trustworthy, forthright and will lead Nigeria forward.

Bishop Ademowo also praised President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat for the unity of the country, adding that his attitude would allow for a smooth transition of government come May 29.

The bishop said this on Tuesday at a press briefing on the third session of the diocese’s 32nd synod, Punch reports.

He said, “One thing that President Jonathan did to his credit was that he was the first to congratulate Buhari. And the way he has been conducting himself has shown the transition will be very smooth.

“For Buhari, he is a forthright and a no nonsense person. He is not interested in amassing wealth; he is only interested in assisting this country. I can trust him any time.

“We pray for him and I know he is going to take this country to a higher ground; we will be out of the woods. Buhari is coming in with Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to work very hard and ensure that this country is better.

“It is a good combination. I feel happy each time I read about what they have planned to do. I have a lot of faith in them. Both of them are detribalised Nigerians, who think of others first.”

It was gathered that Bishop Ademowo further urged Nigerians to be positive about the future, noting that their utterances had implications on the development of the country.

“I want us to be optimistic. There are people whose utterances are outrageously negative. They don’t see anything good; they just confess negatively. That is wrong. Just believe that beyond the tunnel, there will be light. Believe that and know that what you confess positively will come to pass,” he added.

Commenting on the theme of the synod’s opening service, which holds on Sunday, May 3, Ademowo said Christians would be enjoined to live by biblical teachings and shun false doctrines.

He said topics that cut across several human endeavours would be discussed at the event.

“The theme of our synod is, The Authority of the Scriptures. Emphasis will be laid on the Word of God, encouraging our members more than ever to read, learn and inwardly digest the Word of God; His Word is therapeutic. It is a necessary lubricant to our souls and bodies.

“Heresies and false doctrines abound everywhere today. The synod is to enjoin people to go back to the basics,” he said.
