3 powerful women in the Bible
In honor of this special day, we look at some comes female figures in the Bible.
It is an extremely important day that reminds everyone to appreciate and fight for women all over the world.
In light of this incredible day, Pulse Religion recognizes strong females in the Bible.
Here are three powerful women in the Bible who are worth admiring and emulating:
Mary
We start with, obvious choice - the mother of Jesus Christ. Approached at the young age of 14 to giving birth to the son of God, she finds the courage and faith to cooperate with God, ignoring the public shame that comes with pregnancies outside of wedlock.
This faith and courage is further displayed every time she is mentioned throughout the Bible.
Queen Esther
This is another remarkable character. Like Mary, she shows uncommon faith and courage when she requests to see her husband, King Xerxes.
The risk pays off when her people, the Jews, are saved from death.
Rahab
Portrayed as a prostitute, this woman turns out to be a really brave woman who betrays her people when she takes in Israelite spies and keeps them from being found.
This unlikely heroine turned out to be the reason why her entire household is saved (See Joshua 2).
Other noteworthy women include Deborah, a Judge, Prophetess and Oracle (See Judges 5:2–31) and Ruth, whose loyalty, and kind character pays off when she marries Boaz.
International Women’s Day
In the early 1900’s, a global day was set aside for the celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
“International Women’s Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action — whatever that looks like globally at a local level,” explains the campaign website.
