Over 30 young girls have been allegedly sexually assaulted in Pastor Tim Omotoso's house in Umhlanga.

Nigerian pastor is accused of sexually abusing over 30 young girls

According to Instagram account, Instablog, the abuse allegedly happened in the pastor's house in Umhlanga, an affluent town in Durban.

An expose by South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) television channel claims that the pastor handpicked the girls.

On the false excuse of rescuing them from drugs, Omotoso told them to live with him, then proceeded to have unprotected sex with them.

Some of these young girls sang for the pastor’s group, known as Simply Christolite, while others reportedly dropped out of the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Reacting to this, Bishop Vusi Dube of the National Interfaith Council of SA said: “I challenge all honest Nigerian pastors to condemn this. If they don’t, there will be assumptions that they have no problem with this behaviour.”

The Hawks, South Africa's Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), are reportedly looking for the pastor.

Hawk’s spokesperson, Lt-Col Robert Netshiunda, said, “We are investigating the matter and we will only lay charges after getting him.”

Netshiunda also said that the pastor can not be found and his three cellphones have been deactivated.

Meanwhile, Sunday World reports that Omotoso has hired a lawyer named Alwyn Griebenow to represent him.

Griebenow, who is a popular defence attorney, has confirmed the news and revealed that he intends to meet with the Hawks this afternoon to discuss the case.

There are also rumors that the accused pastor intends to turn himself over to the Hawks today. This rumor has not been confirmed.
