Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal, has stated that his government would continue with the feeding programmed for the less-privileged during the Ramadan fast.

According to the governor, the free feeding programme which was introduced by Governor Aliyu Wamakko six years ago, had gone a long way in providing succour for the indigent during the Ramadan
Alhaji Tambuwal revealed this on Tuesday, June 17 at a fundraising ceremony organised by the state chapter of the Jama’atul Izalatul Bida’a Waikamatul Sunnah (JIBWIS) at the Akalawa area in Sokoto.
He said the provision of free meals was meant to enable the less privileged break their Ramadan fast with ease, ThisDay reports.
According to the governor, the free feeding programme which was introduced by Governor Aliyu Wamakko six years ago, had gone a long way in providing succour for the indigent during the Ramadan.
“The present administration will continue with the free feeding programme for the less privileged during the Ramadan because it is an initiative that has impacted greatly on our people and alleviated their pains,” Tambuwal said.
Speaking through the Head of Service, Alhaji Bature Shinkafi, he directed the state Ministry of Religious Affairs to make adequate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the Ramadan Feeding Programme.
Tambuwal also advised officials saddled with the responsibility of supervising the Ramadan Feeding Centres, to be just and fair in the discharge of their assignment.
He then warned that his administration would not fold its arms and allow some unscrupulous officials sabotage its efforts aimed at providing assistance to the less privileged in the holy month of Ramadan.
In a remark, the state Chairman of JIBWIS, Malam Auwal Suleiman, said the group decided to raise fund in other to carry out its humanitarian activities during the Ramadan period.
He stated that over N15 million was realised during the fundraising ceremony, saying the group would not relent in its quest to propagate Islam across the country.
