The police in Ogun state say a Foursquare Gospel church in Ibara Housing Estate area of Abeokuta was allegedly robbed of N6 million cash on Sunday, January 18.

The gang was alleged to have also dispossessed the congregation of their money and valuables.
Police say they stormed the church in the middle of the robbery, following a distress call, engaging the robbers in an exchange of fire.
During the gun battle, Somoye was reportedly hit in the leg, while a police Bareta pistol was recovered from him.
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the force had commenced investigations with a view to ascertain the source of the pistol recovered from the suspected robber.
Adejobi, a deputy superintendent of police, said: “Somoye was hit by police bullets and a police pistol was recovered from him and we have been trying to ascertain the source of the pistol.”
