Police sources say the pastor on sighting some officers took to his heels
The police in Lagos are currently searching for the pastor of a new Cherubim and Seraphim church, Samuel Olusoji, in Ajah area of the state over the alleged death of two brothers in the course of having a spiritual bath, over the weekend.
According to reports, the victims identified as Abiodun and Ayinde Oniru ages 23 and 20 – brothers from the same parents, and one of their step-brothers were alleged to have been taken to church by their father and step-mother for spiritual cleansing, on Thursday, December 18.
It was gathered that, three days later, it was reportedly suggested that they should complete the cleansing with a spiritual bath in a stream located in Ogombo area of Ajah, but their step-mother disagreed with the suggestion and left the pastor behind with the brothers.
The bath took a tragic turn as the brothers were said to have drowned.
Reports say the case was said to have been reported at the Ogombo police division, consequent upon which a team of policemen stormed the church.
Police sources say the pastor on sighting some officers took to his heels, some members of the church who were at the church premises also ran away but the church’s secretary was caught and taken away by the police.
Police sources also hinted that the corpses had been deposited at Mainland Hospital mortuary, Yaba, where autopsy would be done.
Police statement read: “We are still on the trail of the senior Pastor of the church. He is currently on the run. He has questions to answer.
“Meanwhile, the autopsy report will form basis for our investigation. It is only then that we can be able to establish the cause of their death.”
