Tahir said the Qur’an admonished the Muslim Ummah to marry up to four wives if they have the wherewithal to treat them equally.
Tahir gave the advice while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lokoja on the need for Nigerians to align their lives with economic realities.
He enjoined people to only bear children they can adequately cater for. The cleric said Nigerians' greatest undoing was the lack of birth control mechanism in place that has led to the population rise.
According to him, without enough job opportunities to match the growing population, the idle mind would become the devil’s workshop.
