Senior Pastor of the New Anointing Chapel Parish of the Redeemed Christian church of God, Mark Christmas along with two church members were abducted by unknown gunmen on October 18, 2015 in bayelsa.

He was reported to have been tricked by the gunmen under the pretext of attending an emergency meeting with his kinsmen in his hometown.
Christmas was reported to have been tricked by the gunmen under the pretext of attending an emergency meeting with his kinsmen in his hometown, Biseingbene community, in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state.
The wife of abducted senior pastor, Evelyn Christmas confirmed the reports and also added that the abductors are requesting for the total of 30.2M Naira, which includes N200,000 as cost for phone calls made and N30m as ransom for his freedom.
Evelyn also added that since the abduction the police has not been contacted for the fear of losing her husband to the hoodlums.
reports that when the Bayelsa State Police Command was contacted as per the development on the abduction, Mr. Asinim Butswat, replied that the family had not reported the matter to the police.
Recently, Syrian priest, Jacques Mourad who was abducted in May 2015 by the Islamic state terrorist has finally been released.
He was reported to have been released on Saturday, October 10, 2015, 5 months after he was abducted and went straight back to the pulpit on Sunday to conduct his first mass since his abduction in Homs province.
