Praying for your partner the right way changes you

Find out how praying, the right way, for your partner will change you and your marriage.

Pray the right way for your spouse

Talking to him, I realised how selfish we can be, and how we need to focus on ourselves, rather than the other person.

This leads to today's subject, 'praying for our partners'.

A lot of people go into marriages, still thinking it is all about them, their wants, desires, with little or no concern for their partners.

This is often reflected in how they pray.

In order to get their version of their spouses, they say things like, 'God, change my husband, Lord, make her to stop nagging, Father, stop him from drinking", and so much more.

We take their faults to God, forgetting that sometimes, other people's actions are often reflections.

Maybe, he or she is nagging, turning away from you, being stubborn, forgetful, upset because of how YOU treat them.

Matthew 7:4–5 tells us, "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye".

Imagine how better our marriages would be if we focused, a little more on our own flaws, rather than constantly picking at our partners'.

Today, we encouraged to pray for our partners, the right way, by;

1. Thank God for your amazing partners (they must have been amazing for you to marry them), even when they test you.

2. Be grateful for your partners.

3. Pray about your flaws, ask God to open your eyes to your issues and how to deal with them.

4. Pray that you are both reminded of the essence/significance of the Christian marriage.

Praying this, the right way, should inspire happiness and gratitude in your heart, while opening ways for God to work on your marriage.

Romans 12:2 says,"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind..."
